DTE Sponsored (FSDTC) Five days Training program on “Online learning in technical institutions using Virtual Labs”

In collaboration with SOLVE, NIT – Surathkal, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at GCE Kannur organized a Five-day Online Training Program on "Online Learning in Technical Institutions Using Virtual Labs." The program was sponsored by DTE (Directorate of Technical Education) and took place from 31-Aug-2021 to 04-Sep-2021. The sessions were conducted through Google Meet, and the entire course was recorded and made available on their YouTube Channel.

The primary objective of the program was to enhance faculty members' knowledge and skills in effectively utilizing virtual labs for online teaching, especially during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic. The program received an encouraging response, with a total of 53 participants attending the training sessions.

FDP on Natural Language Processing using Python

he Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Natural Language Processing using Python" was designed to provide participants with an intensive hands-on training experience in various aspects of Natural Language Processing (NLP) using Python, including the latest advancements in Deep Learning techniques in this domain. The course, spanning six days from 14th to 18th October 2019, was meticulously structured to systematically build participants' understanding of the different steps involved in NLP and how to implement them using various Python packages such as NLTK.

This training initiative was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at GCE Kannur and was financially supported by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) through the Faculty and Staff Development Centre (FSDTC) of GCE Kannur. Sajith B, Assistant Professor at CSE Dept., GCE Kannur, served as the program coordinator, ensuring the successful execution of the FDP.
