Research and consultancy go hand in hand and along with teaching and they make the three pillars of academics at Government college of Engineering Kannur
GCE Kanur has been a recognized research Centre under Kannur university from 2005 and At present the college offers PhD program in various branches with an affiliation to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University of Kerala. There are almost 39 research scholars pursuing PhD under registered supervisors who are actively involved in many interdisciplinary projects .
GCE Kannur also promotes research through many of its centers such as Centre for Excellence in Systems Energy and Environment (CESEE), Rural Technology Development Centre (RTDC) and Collaborative Research and Learning (CoRAL). All these centers are actively involved in leveraging the technology derived from research to the benefit of the society.
The faculty of GCEK have secured many research grants from many reputed agencies and DST, SERB, ANERT and CERD are a few to name. Many of our faculty have acquired fellowships and recognition in the area of research including those from Australian Government and INSA .There are almost 10 patents to the credit of the academic fraternity of GCE Kannur. The research publications from the institute are well refereed and cited .
