Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering


The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering started its functioning along with the inception of the institution in the year 1986, with an annual intake of 40 for the UG program and affiliated to the University of Calicut. Within a few years, by the shifting of the campus to Mangattuparamba, the Department got established with the institution. The affiliation of the UG program was changed to Kannur University in the year 1996 and its intake was increased to 90 in the year 2000, after which the Department runs two batches of UG students. A PG program with the specialization Signal Processing and Embedded Systems was started in the year 2012 with an annual intake of 18. With the formation of Kerala Technological University (KTU), all the programs got affiliated to it, with effect from the admission for the year 2015.

The Department is always committed to produce quality engineers with profound technical knowledge in Electronics and its related areas. The graduates also acquire good practical knowledge through well-equipped laboratories and high leadership qualities, communication skills and decision making capabilities through the co-curricular and extracurricular training programs. This is evident from the fact that many of the graduates get through the competitive examinations for higher studies - both in core and management. Faculty members of the Department are having good academic career as well as professional experience who are extremely dedicated to their duties in moulding their students' career. Their technical proficiency covers almost all areas of the discipline - Electronic Circuits, Digital Systems, Communication Engineering, Electro-magnetics, Signal Processing, Control Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Embedded Systems, and VLSI Technology. The faculty and technical staff members are so enthusiastic who show keen interest in the process of teaching learning, as well as in advising and guiding the students for the overall development of their personality. Consequently the success index of students is substantially high and they come up with flying colours after their educational tenure at the institution.
