My great institution, the Govt. College of Engineering Kannur, which stands out as the best in Malabar,not only creates technocrats but mould them to excel in their creativity also. Enriched with a fully devoted and accomplished team of faculty, along with its curriculum it acts as avery conductive ladder for the students in achieving their aspirations and also as a concrete pillar where they need support. It is overwhelming to mention the covetous evolution of this prestigious institution since its inception. I'm so honoured that I belong to the first batch (1986) of this esteemed organization. Though it was a 'real living' of years of us with limited facilities in the beginning when we started our journey from the noisy corridors of the Town High School Payyambalam, we can proudly pronounce now that it has only boosted our morale and poise.

I graduated from GCEK from the first batch. The formative years at the town campus interlinked with strikes for the infrastructure for the present campus and the dedicated and committed teaching and support staff has helped me to evolve as a soldier in the Navy first and now as an entrepreneur designing and manufacturing various electro mechanical systems for the Indian defense forces. Now 35 years down the lane it is great pride to understand and realise the achievements from our Alumni in various fields of technology, entrepreneurship and admistration. I wish my alma mater many many more glorious years ahead.
I had a splendid experience as a student of Govt. College of Engineering, Kannur and
proud to say that I belong to this wonderful family of GCEK. The values instilled in me by
the institution carved me a better individual and made me to achieve my goals. Knowledge
gained at GCEK is instrumental in shaping me as an efficient engineer. Right now I am
placed as an Aerospace Scientist in Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) - Bangalore,
Under Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. I am happy and proud that I am part of prestigious
national programmes, Design and Development of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA-TEJAS) and
Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) in ADA-Bangalore.
Over the many years since its inception I have seen the college grow from strength to
strength in all the areas of its operation. The dedicated and enthusiastic faculties have always
kept the student’s interests in mind and created an environment where learning is fun,
intensive and industry oriented.
I wish continued success to the college and current students who I am sure will find
great careers in their chosen professional area.
GCEK gave me the opportunity to hone my technical and leadership skills being the second batch of this college. The deep relationships built have lasted over three decades and the link with GCEK remains everlasting strong. The experience of setting up the IEEE chapter and representing the college in Quiz competitions helped me develop courage and confidence in building leadership attributes which allowed me to scale new heights in my corporate career of 30 years resulting in senior leadership roles and being the sole Asian on the executive committee.
Graduating as an engineer from GCEK gave me the right platform to pursue my passion in
automotive design and I have been fortunate to be associated with brands like Safran, Renault
and Mercedes-Benz in my years of design experience in the field.
Being part of the GCEK family has been one of the key elements not only in establishing my
basics in mechanical engineering, but also personally in making friends whom I'm very close
to even now.
I wish the future engineers from GCEK a wonderful career with loads of experience and also
the very best to the teaching faculty for their continued motivation to nurture and develop
young skilled professional engineers.
GCEK holds a special place in my career where I forged great life-long relationships and chiselled my analytical and entrepreneurial skills that aid me to get into IIM and later launch the two startups. I am grateful to the wonderful support from my professors and glad to see some of them now at the helm of affairs at our college. I am really impressed with the quality of engineering talent in the current batches as evident in the campus placements done for my startup, BestDoc. Looking forward to seeing many more entrepreneurs, builders and creators of tomorrow from GCEK.
Life at GCEK taught me a lot... it taught me what to aspire for... n it taught me that everything was within reach for those who really wanted it... the campus made me dream and turned me into who i am today...
It is no wonder why people say College life is the best part of their lives! I was lucky enough to experience my wonder at GCEK: The best engineering college in Malabar region and one among the top engineering colleges in Kerala. Be it the vast campus with its miraculous infrastructure, well-qualified yet magnanimous professors, well recognized Student Bodies and Tech-fests, you name it, GCEK has it! GCEK not only enhances one's technical skills, but also provide various platforms to apply the gained knowledge. Constant and collaborative interactions with some of the brightest minds has broadened my knowledge base, improved my leadership abilities and contributed to other inter-personal skills. The TEQIP Cell & Placement cell are major value additions to the college. Our batch saw a placement figure of 101 on the first day and I was successfully placed in TCS. I owe my success to GCEK, for it gave me the competitive edge, confidence and willpower to reach out to my dreams. And Yes, I miss GCEK!
I’m very proud to call myself a graduate from GCEK, one of the best engineering colleges in Kerala. GCEK, with its well qualified faculty and excellent infrastructure, helped me to build my knowledge in various facets of engineering. Were it not for the friendly and supportive atmosphere of GCEK, I strongly doubt whether I would have dared to go beyond the finite limits of engineering curriculum and get involved in other extra curricular activities which proved very essential for my career. I’m happy to say that I make use of the knowledge that I gained at GCEK, in my day to day professional work which involves some good amount of engineering. The placement cell of GCEK is a remarkable endeavour by the faculty and students of GCEK. With sufficient training and ample learning opportunities, it makes sure that almost everyone in a batch is prepared, for campus placement or off-campus placement. A large number of students in our batch got placed in on campus placement as well as off-campus placement. I’m happy and proud to say that I myself got placed in two companies during my engineering studies, and one more after completing my course, because of the confidence imparted by the cell. I wish all the best to my college. As an end note, it is always a pleasure to return to my alma mater, which is more like a second home to me.
Life at GCEK was indeed a breakthrough in my life. Experiences there moulded my career and personality. The activities - curricular and extra curricular- at the college gave me cutting edge knowledge on dealing various issues I have to come across in my daily professional life. Thanks to all my teachers, staff and the entire GCEK family, without whom, I couldn’t even dream of being an employee at MRF.

It is with tremendous joy I am sharing about the opportunity provided by GCEK in fulfilling my dreams of becoming an independent working woman. 4 years in GCEK was indeed most colorful period of my life which helped in molding my personality. Here students are taught not only the lessons of engineering but also life. We have very good faculties and facilities which boost our curricular and extra curricular activities. IEEE and National Service Scheme were excellent platforms for me to work in a group and perform as a leader. Innovative ideas are always welcomed and encouraged. I thank everyone in GCEK for guiding me through the right path and I wish all success for its future endeavors.
I can positively say GCEK has made me a better person. It has helped me to develop a positive attitude towards my studies and discover more about myself. Teachers are very caring and interested in students’ well- being. They make sure every class is fun, educational and interactive. Life at GCEK was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life, not only because what I learn in class, but also I could meet many people from various backgrounds and knowledge. These experiences have shown to be of use both in my social life and professional life.
It gives me immense pleasure to recollect the wonderful days I spent at my Alma mater, Govt. College of engineering, Kannur. I owe everything to my college for what I am today. My time at GCEK was an experience I will cherish forever. I am very proud to be a GCEK’an. My college has given me a wonderful life with good career and motivation. One thing which comes to my mind when thinking about my college is the good learning environment. The library and the classrooms are more functional. The Friendly attitude of the staff and their willingness to always offer a helping hand has made me come out from my limitations which in turn helped me to get a job in a core company.

I think most of us would be in a kind of dilemma after joining the B Tech course and running through the 4 years of wonderful journey, just because of thinking about getting a job, moreover a highly paid one. From my experience it's not only our academics plays a vital role in getting placed in a reputed company, but there are several other factors which contributes on the personal front. Everyone has a limit where people will get saturated and won't be able to think out of the box. What if someone is there to polish your thoughts and ideas and can act as a facilitator. I wish to address GCEK as a platform where students can express themselves and explore more on the technical aspects as well as on the morality side. The kind of support extended from the faculties was tremendous. Especially the proactive approach taken by the placement cell for personality reforming and for developing the competitive skills. Basically all these activities laid down a strong foundation for the gradual transition from a student to a professional. I am proud to be a GCEK’ian and wish all of them a very bright future!
